As a sire, he has been able to fully convince: Estobar NRW and his licensed sons Escolar and Equitaris I have already been crowned National Riding Horse Champion three times. Both also won the Westphalian Championships. His daughter Emily Rose completed her SLP in Münster-Handorf with the year’s best score of 8.79 and went to the final ring at the Westphalian Elite Mare Show and the German Elite Mare Championships. Other offspring, such as the Bundeschampionat qualifier Eviva, proved to be real loop collectors.
Ten sons have been licensed to date, including Escolar, his full brother Escorial (both international GP winners with Hubertus Schmidt), Equitaris I and II, the Hanoverian champion and Bundeschampionat finalist Emilio Sanchez and many others. El Florissimo, also licensed, is an advanced (S) level winner under Vera Fürst, one of around 20 successful Estobar NRW offspring to date, among which the European Championship participant Ein Traum 2/Borja Carrascosa (ESP) deserves special mention.
Again and again, his offspring prove the breeding value of the Grand Seigneur: El Ganador, ridden by Anna Kleindienst-Jilly, has already celebrated international series successes in the Grand Prix; and Esteban, ridden by Dorte Pack, has also danced to success in the “premier class”, the Grand Prix. Meanwhile, young rider Vivien Borgmann, who is just 19 years old, is always delighted with her international victories in the advanced class in the saddle of the two Estobar offspring Eyecatcher and Especially. Only in 2023 Especially carried her to the title of Westphalian Young Riders Champion.
"Estobar NRW has already produced countless successful sporting offspring who have excelled up to Grand Prix level. He has proven that E stands for success."
- Sandra Schürner
"Elite stallion": Estobar NRW was recently awarded this title by the Mecklenburg Horse Breeding Association. What award could be more fitting for this important stallion who, with his son Escolar, brought the valuable E-blood back to the dressage arenas and into people's minds? But it is not only Escolar who impressively underlines the hereditary quality of Estobar NRW as a figurehead. Around 30 Estobar offspring are already successful up to advanced (S) level in Germany alone.
Offspring with the best riding qualities
With remarkable straightness, Estobar NRW gives his offspring the best riding qualities, elasticity and strength of character. They are all typey riding horses with plenty of scope and are thus in the tradition of their impressive sire. He himself was the celebrated winner of the NRW licensing in 2006, was voted best dressage stallion at the 70-day test in Adelheidsdorf and collected successes up to Grand Prix level. The offspring are in no way inferior to this sporting performance. Just last show season, for example, his son Eyecatcher carried Vivien Borgmann, who is only 19 years old, to the title of Westphalian Young Riders Champion.
As up-to-date as ever
Estobar NRW not only carries the Ehrentusch bloodline, which has been spoiled by success for decades, but also comes from the mare line 218. The Dutch breeding magazine "Sport Horse Breeding" named it the most successful dressage-oriented mare line in the world and produced horses such as Bertoli W, ridden by Wolfram Wittig, and Eichendorff, successful under Victoria Max-Theurer. As a sire, Estobar NRW sets important accents: Toughness, correctness, health and willingness to perform are qualities that are often lost in modern breeding - but these are precisely the values that Estobar NRW stands for. Even now, at the age of 20, he continues to recommend himself as a stallion of unbroken topicality.
The grand seigneur of our station has done full justice to his role as the progenitor of the E-blood. An "NRW classic" in the very best sense: he passes on rideability, drive, size, power and strength to his offspring as well as the very best NRW genetics, which could hardly be purer.
Estobar NRW was the undisputed champion stallion at the 2006 NRW licensing in Münster-Handorf, passed his 30-day test in Münster-Handorf in 2007 and confidently won the "Westphalian Crest" at the Tournament of Champions in Münster. In 2009 he passed his 70-day test at the stallion performance test center in Adelheidsdorf with a sensational dressage index of 154.74 points as discipline winner. In 2010 he easily qualified for the Bundeschampionat, in 2011 he won his first advanced level dressage competitions as a seven-year-old and in 2012 he won the international small tour under Olympic champion Hubertus Schmidt. The first Grand Prix placings followed in 2014. From 2017 until his retirement from the sport in 2022, Estobar paved the way to the Golden Riding Badge for young riders in NRW.
The Rhineland-bred sire Ehrentusch, winner of the Warendorf stallion performance test in 1987, was one of the most popular stallions in recent breeding history in North Rhine-Westphalia. His versatile heredity at the highest level always stood out.
The dam Florence is currently one of the most influential mares in Westphalian breeding. She alone produced six licensed sons, namely Estobar NRW and his full brothers Ehrendorf (Ldb. Warendorf) and Eichendorff/Victoria Max-Theurer (AUT), as well as Discover, Molière and Triple Crown. Granddam Florabelle is also a stallion dam.
Through Ferragamo and Florestan I the versatile heredity is also strongly secured in the dam line. The dam line 218/Addi von Preußisch Ströhen (by Abgott-Amoroso-Verehrer-Amandus) is one of the absolute “classics” of Westphalian performance breeding with countless top results in breeding and sport alike. Historically, this family is inseparably connected with the Spreen-Segelhorst breeding station (Preußisch Ströhen) and has produced 30 licensed stallions so far, including Ailton (international SPR invented with Markus Brinkmann), Bertuli W (PB Westf.), Djambo, Dramaturg, Ehrendorf, Frühlingstraum I and II, Montmartre and Referent (all Ldb. Warendorf), furthermore Equitaris I u. II, Eichendorff (international DRE with Victoria Max-Theurer/AUT), Eure Exzellenz (PB Westf.), Pilotdino (PB SUI), Prinz Segelhorst (PB Westf.), Rock’n Roll (PB DK) and the internationally successful sport horses Amaretto 50/Isabell Werth and Barilla W/Brigitte Wittig in dressage and Dina 170/Hans-Dieter Dreher and Minister 4/Norbert Koof in show jumping.
