Nothing has been the same since December 2, 2024. Bruni is no longer here. Our wonderful Malinois dog, who had everything under control and yet was so loving and gentle. For almost 14 years, Bruni literally animated our lives at Gestüt Gut Neuenhof. She came to us as a puppy at the beginning of 2011. As an old lady, we now had to say goodbye to her. It’s a proud age. It is generally said that these dogs can live up to twelve years. Bruni surpassed that by far. Nevertheless, it is always too early.
Bruni was the undisputed boss in the house. Even when she was older. She embodied everything that Malinois dogs have become famous for – she protected what was dear to her: us, our home, her four-legged friends. Her intelligence, her temperament, her zest for life often amazed us and always delighted us. Bruni was part of the family. She simply belonged. The little rituals we developed together, the mutual understanding we built up, the language we used to “talk” to each other. As self-confident as she was, one look, one little sign was enough and she knew what to do. A very special dog! The fact that she is now gone – neither we nor her four-legged friends can really believe it yet. We are all distraught. Only those who have had to let a family member go can understand how big the gap is that she leaves behind. Sure, the wound will eventually heal. But it will always hurt when you touch it. And that’s actually a good thing.
We will not forget you, Bruni. The love and joy you gave us cannot be outweighed by anything in the world. We hope you are doing well where you are now! Hopefully you’ll find someone to throw frisbee discs for you. And hopefully we can do that again sometime. Take care, Bruni! We love you!
