As part of the Westphalian main licensing of riding horse stallions, three horses were ennobled with the name “NRW” by Gestüt Gut Neuenhof: the stallions Bentheim and Gold Garant as well as Gut Neuenhof’s Maxima.
Bentheim, and now Bentheim NRW, has more than earned the accolade of reigning Westphalian and national champion. The son of Belvedere DB, bred by Jürgen de Baey, found his way to Gestüt Gut Neuenhof as a two-year-old. The dam Rock’n Rose is a Rock Forever daughter out of Andona, who is none other than a full sister to line founder Rubinstein and thus a representative of the famous De Baey-Dodona line (including Ahlerich, Amon, Rembrandt, Bordeaux). Bentheim’s sire Belvedere DB impressed with Stefanie Viehoff-Wolf at the 2021 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses before being sold to the USA as an Olympic hopeful. Through Belissimo M and his dam’s sire Danone, he brings two of the best stallion lines in current dressage horse breeding into Bentheim’s pedigree. With all the talent that his ancestors passed on to him, Bentheim was given the go-ahead for breeding at the Westphalian main licensing in Münster-Handorf. Danica Duen took over his training under the saddle. She was delighted with the youngster last season: every show a victory, every championship a title. First there was the red and white sash at the Westphalian Riding Horse Championships, then the black, red and gold at the Bundeschampionat.
Another stallion from the Gut Neuenhof stud who now has the suffix NRW in his name is the German riding pony stallion Gold Garant. His name was already the program before. As a foal, Sandra Schürner discovered the bay white colt by Golden Grey NRW – FS Champion de Luxe – FS Don’t Worry bred by Alicia Mengelkamp and once again proved to have a good eye for young horses. Two years later, the youngster was named champion stallion at his licensing. He finished his first show season in 2023 as Westphalian Champion and qualified for the Bundeschampionat Final with a score of 8.7. In 2024, he collected a series of victories and ribbons in tests for young dressage horses before becoming Bundeschampion of five-year-old dressage ponies with Sophie Luisa Duen. His first foal crops have shown that Gold Garant NRW also passes on the Gold Guarantee to his offspring – he produced the winning foals at the German Mare and Foal Championships in Lienen from both his first crop in 2023 and 2024, as well as a number of the top-placed foals.
The number three title winner, Gut Neuenhof’s Maxima, now Gut Neuenhof’s Maxima NRW, comes from the stud’s own breeding program. Under Danica Duen, she was first celebrated Westphalian Champion and then won bronze at the Riding Horse Bundeschampionat. The sire Maxim, also owned by Gut Neuenhof Stud and now in Dorothee Schneider’s stables for further training, combines two Dutch Olympic stallions in direct succession in his pedigree with Toto Jr. and the WBFSH ranking leader Johnson, who here meet the full sister to the Olympic reserve and Gut Neuenhof star sire Escolar, Edina by Estobar NRW – Fürst Piccolo.
The Gestüt Gut Neuenhof is delighted to welcome three more members to the NRW family!
