GROSSENKNETEN/BAD OEYNHAUSEN. To thunderous applause, Gold Garant was chosen as the Champion Stallion of the Westphalian Riding Pony Licensing in autumn 2021. Since then, interest in the eye-catching son of Golden Grey NRW has not waned. Now the bay and white sable is changing station: With immediate effect, Gold Garant is stationed at the Danica Duen stallion station in Bad Oeynhausen, Westphalia.
Most recently, Gold Garant was stationed at Kastanienhof in Großenkneten, Lower Saxony, and was looked after and trained by the Coldewey family in close cooperation with dressage rider Wenke Kraus. In order to prevent speculation in view of the change of station, the owners’ association Schürner/Boyar van Baaren, who already acquired the stallion on the occasion of the Westphalian Foal Auction 2019, feels obliged to clarify the background of the decision.
The breeding season at Kastanienhof was excellent, according to the owners: “Gold Garant was very well received by the breeders,” Sandra Schürner and Ömer Boyar van Baaren report. At the same time, the stallion was broken in under the care of the Coldewey family. Wenke Kraus, a professional rider from Rehburg-Loccum, visited Gold Garant again and again during this time, as she was to prepare him for the next upcoming tasks – the Westphalia Week and the Bundeschampionat – from July onwards.
“Shortly before the change of location, Gold Garant was unfortunately nailed at the Kastanienhof stud farm,” the owners’ association clarifies. Due to the severity of the injury, the stallion was subsequently in veterinary treatment for a longer period of time, so that further training under saddle was temporarily ruled out. In order to heal and resume training, the stallion finally moved from the clinic to the Kraus stable in Rehburg-Loccum.
“We are very grateful to Wenke Kraus for the excellent care Gold Garant enjoyed with her,” Schürner and Boyar van Baaren emphasise. “She contributed significantly to the stallion’s recovery and ensured that he could now move to Bad Oeynhausen in top condition.”
The change of location to Danica Duen’s station is due to the fact that regular insemination of the stallion is possible there. Due to the strong demand from the breeders and the already cancelled show plans for 2022, the owners decided to make Gold Garant available to the breeders for the coming season. Danica Duen offers ideal conditions for this.
“We are now looking forward to continuing to accompany Gold Garant’s further training and also his work as a stallion and are sure that he will soon be able to build on the successes of the licensing,” say Schürner and Boyar van Baaren.
In the future, Gold Garant will be available to all interested breeders via the Duen stallion station.
