Cashmere has two licensed sons, one with a premium stallion sash

Cashmere

As an orphan foal that was raised at Gestüt Gut Neuenhof and then took off in breeding and sport, Cashmere has always had a prominent position. And rightly so, as was once again demonstrated at the 2024 Westphalian main licensing.

Two sons of Cashmere were present at the riding horse licensing in Münster-Handorf, both bred by Gestüt Gut Neuenhof, both received the go for breeding, one also a premium. He will now follow in his sire’s footsteps under the name Cashmere’s Carat.

Although Cashmere himself is Westphalian-bred, he represents the Holstein line 1094, which has produced various 1.60 meter show jumpers as well as, for example, the 2008 Oldenburg Champion Stallion, Le Champ Ask, and Cashmere’s half-brother Carento, who was also licensed. Cor de la Bryère has made show jumper breeding in the land between the seas world-famous. The great Frenchman is represented three times in Cashmere: through sire Cristallo, dam’s sire Contender and great-granddam Ordela, who was a direct daughter of the exceptional stallion. Cashmere himself was reserve champion at his licensing, passed his stallion examinations with top marks and won silver at the 2020 Bundeschampionat for five-year-old show jumpers. He is now internationally successful at advanced (S) level. As a sire, he has produced champion foals, champion and final ring mares and now three licensed stallions.

In the case of the youngest licensed Cashmere offspring, we have opted for the proven combination with the 2004 Holstein dam line, from which one of our foundation mares, U-Cassina by Cassini – Carthago – Ladalco, originates. How well this combination works is demonstrated by U-Cassina’s son Caressini by Carento. He was our first home-bred Bundeschampion and placed internationally in jumping competitions up to 1.50 meters. In combination with Cashmere’s sire Cristallo I, U-Cassina also produced the licensed stallion Cronau.

The now award-winning Cashmere’s Carat is a grandson of U-Cassina. Breeding director Thomas Münch commented on him as follows: “Certainly standing in the upper frame on a solid foundation. Well-developed joints, well-developed front parts and certainly a stallion in movement who does not have to hide behind his colleagues in the dressage class. Provided with sufficient impression, especially in canter, light-footed uphill and carried.”

This dual talent, which is also inherent in his now licensed brother, is reliably passed on by both Cashmere and his sire Cristallo I. Both also placed in tests for young riding horses as young stallions.

The dam of premium stallion Cashmere’s Carat, state premium mare Helena by Hermes de Lux, was U-Cassina’s fourth foal and placed fourth in the final ring at the 2016 Westphalian Elite Show. Through her sire, she brings the noble blood of the Anglo-Arabian Hermes D’Authieux into the pedigree of our new addition. Carat is also bred to Olympic stallion Carthago Z via Hermes de Lux’ dam G-Manjana EGE.

Both Carat and his likewise licensed three-quarter brother, who is a direct son of U-Cassina, thus combine the two great progenitors of Holstein breeding in their pedigree, Cor de la Bryère and Capitol I. And this is secured several times over.

While Cashmere’s Carat will go straight into breeding in addition to his athletic training, his stable mate will first earn his spurs in the sport. We are looking forward to the future with the two sons of our exceptional stallion Cashmere!
