WARENDORF. He entered the dressage arena as the favorite for the title – and still managed to exceed all expectations. The pony stallion Gold Garant thrilled the professional audience in Warendorf with a fabulous march through the arena and was crowned Bundeschampion of five-year-old dressage ponies.
With his 18-year-old rider Sophie Luisa Duen in the saddle, Gold Garant danced around the arena. The eye-catching Perlino stallion, a son of Golden Grey bred by Alicia Mengelkamp, was unimpressed by the imposing backdrop of the championships and presented himself as a consistently strong-nerved sport partner with an almost unbelievable quality of movement.
Gold Garant’s victory at the Bundeschampionate was like a march through: Gold Garant won the final qualifier for five-year-old dressage ponies with a final score of 9.380. All the scores were in the 9 range. Only partial scores in the 9 range spoke for themselves. Gold Garant confirmed this impressive first performance in the final and topped himself off: With a score of 9.020, he won the title of national champion.
“Gold Garant finally had the chance to demonstrate what we have known for years: that he is an absolutely exceptional pony,” said Sandra Schürner, Managing Director of Hengststation Gut Neuenhof, who bought the stallion as a foal together with Oemer Boyar van Baaren. “His breeding performance speaks for itself; hardly any other pony stallion is currently producing foals that are as successful and acclaimed throughout Germany as he is. At the same time, Gold Garant is also a reliable pony and an athlete par excellence. We are delighted that he has now been able to show this to the whole of Germany and would also like to thank his young rider Sophie Luisa Duen for the stallion’s harmonious performance.”
