Chasing ribbons with Escolar children

The start of the 2025 show season shows once again that you are on the right horse with the offspring of the elite stallion Escolar.

When U21 rider Lana-Pinou Baumgürtel saddles up her Escolar daughter ZINQ Emma FH, bred by Winfried Albers, she is used to winning. 2025 has been no exception so far. The two former European Junior Champions led the lap of honor in the Münsterland arena at the beginning of the year. There, they left the young rider competition in their wake. Shortly afterwards, they seamlessly followed on from this success in Ankum.

The Ankumer Dressur Club’s dressage tournaments are regularly used by professionals to showcase their young talents under competition conditions. But nobody could get past Baumgürtel and ZINQ Emma FH. First they won the advanced (S*) level test with 72.698 percent and a unanimous first place from all three judges. Then they went one better in the Intermédiaire I. With 71.096 percent, they were the only pair with a “pretty good” final score. Here too, all three judges had them at the top of the field.

The best example of a four-legged talent under a professional rider is the Escolar son Escanciador, bred by Leo Hermanns and ridden by Olympic reserve Katharina Hemmer. Apart from a handful of tests for young horses, the seven-year-old had no competition experience until 2025. However, he immediately converted his first appearances in the large M class arena into top three placings. After finishing second in Essen-Herbergen a fortnight ago, he now picked up his first gold M* ribbon in Ankum. The two were the only pair to be awarded more than 70 percent by all three judges.

Ankum was the S*** premiere for other young Escolar offspring, such as Dorothee Schneider’s Élysée GV, bred and owned by Olympic dressage champion Elisabeth Max-Theurer and her Vorwerk stud. Riding champion Dorothee Schneider has several Escolar children under her saddle and is full of praise for these intelligent, willing horses. No wonder. Élysée placed third straight away with over 70 percent in her first appearance in the piaffe and passage class.

E for success, E for elite stallion, E for Escolar .
